Serial rapist who attacked victim, 13, in school toilet jailed

A triple rapist who sexually assaulted a schoolboy when he was just 14 years old has been jailed.

Sean Wilson, now 27, was 14 when he raped a 13-year-old boy in a toilet at a school in Edinburgh.

A jury heard he had threatened his victim with violence before committing the offence in 2012.

Wilson struck again when he was 19, twice raping another victim, a male ex-partner, at a flat in the city.

The second and third rapes occurred in June 2017.

He was arrested years later.

Wilson, of Edinburgh, was found guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh in January of three charges of rape, and appeared for sentence on Friday at the High Court of Stirling.

Solicitor-advocate Judith Hutchison, defending, said: “He maintains his staunch belief that he is completely innocent of these charges.

“He has struggled with accepting responsibility and the impact this would have had on the victims.

“On the last day of his trial he had actually extracted all of his fingernails by use of a nail clipper.”

Miss Hutchison asked for Wilson’s young age at the time of the offences to be taken into account.

The court heard social workers had assessed Wilson as at high risk of sexual re-offending.

In addition to the the seven-year jail term, Judge Lady Tait placed Wilson on the sex offenders’ register for life, imposed non-harassment orders preventing him from contacting his victims, and imposed a three-year extension period following his release during which time he will be liable to recall to prison if he reoffends.

Lady Tait said: “Each of these complainers was vulnerable.

“A victim impact assessment speaks to the considerable harm and ongoing impact of your conduct.

“The offences are of considerable gravity.

“The complainers should be commended for their courage in giving evidence.”

Wilson, who appeared by video link from prison, showed no emotion as the sentence was pronounced.
