A Scottish castle with links to Mary, Queen of Scots has gone up for sale for over £8m in East Lothian.
Seton Castle was originally built in 1789 by architect Robert Adam, and was historically a preferred retreat for Mary, Queen of Scots.
Set over 13 acres of land, the property includes a four storey mansion linked to U-shaped wings around a parterre courtyard.
The property includes 13 bedrooms as well as working stables, a cinema room and a private tavern.
The sale marks the third time the property has been put on the market in just 20 years.
Seton Palace fell into disrepair after the Jacobite rebellion in the 18th century.
It was bought by Alexander MacKenzie at the tail end of the century who rebuilt the building as Seton Castle.
Property agent Rettie is managing the sale of the location and accepting offers over £8m.
James Whitson, director of residential sales at Rettie Edinburgh, said the company was “delighted” to be entrusted with the sale.
“Rettie are delighted to be entrusted with the sale of Seton Castle for the third time in 20 years. It really is a Robert Adam Masterpiece, that has been restored to the finest calibre, to create a superb family home.
“I have memories as a child from ten years old, attending Boxing Day lunches there for years, and I never thought that in my later life and property career I would have the honour of selling this magnificent castle three times,” he said.
