A “significant and specialist” cannabis cultivation was found at the scene of a fire on a high street on Tuesday.
Fire crews were called to reports of a building fire at a flat on Cowdenbeath High Street in Fife at around 9.30am.
Four fire engines were deployed and access to the road was blocked by police, with local diversions put in place.
No one was injured, however further investigation revealed a cannabis cultivation within the property.
Fife Jammer LocationsLocal councillor Darren Watt took to social media to say that the blaze had moved upward since “a number of the residential properties were connected” by the removal of internal walls.
He continued: “It became apparent the reason properties were interconnected was because there is a significant and specialist cannabis cultivation operating throughout, and now CID are investigating.”
Cllr Darren WattConfirming, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 9.50am on Tuesday, September 27, we were called to provide traffic management while SFRS dealt with a fire on High Street, Cowdenbeath.
“A cannabis cultivation was discovered within a property.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 9.30am on Tuesday, 27 September to reports of a building fire on Cowdenbeath High Street.
Cllr Darren Watt“Operations Control immediately mobilised four appliances to the scene.
“There have been no reported casualties.”
