Police have charged a total of six men and recovered £113,000 worth of drugs in a series of raids in Edinburgh.

On Wednesday, police raided a property south west of the city finding £8,000 worth of heroin (diamorphine), £11,000 in diazepam and alprazolam (a tranquilizer commonly sold as Xanax) valued at £21,000.

A 41-year-old man was charged and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for drugs related offences.

In a separate operation at an address north west of the city, police discovered a cannabis farm with a potential street value of £50,000.

Three men, aged 17, 30 and 36 years old, were charged with drugs related offences and an offence under the Electricity Act.

Two appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday and one at a later date.

Nearby, officers working on an unrelated matter, found another cannabis farm worth an estimated £12,000.

A 27-year-old man was charged with drug related offences and is due to appear at court.

On Thursday morning a vehicle was stopped by police in the north east of Edinburgh and a 26-year-old man was found in possession of £4,500 worth of heroin, £6,000 of crack cocaine and £55 of cannabis.

He will appear in court on Friday on drugs related offences.
