A staff member at an additional support needs school has died from coronavirus.
Falkirk Council paid tribute to Kathleen McMahon, who was also known as Maureen, for her work at Carrongrange High School in Grangemouth.
On Monday, a spokesperson said: “Staff and pupils were saddened to hear of the death of a respected member of staff from Carrongrange High School recently.
“Kathleen (Maureen) McMahon was valued by colleagues and loved by the children and young people she supported. We offer our deepest sympathy to her family.”
Carrongrange High School is the local authority’s only secondary for those with moderate, severe and complex additional support needs.
The secondary has been given a deep-clean and has reported one positive Covid case as of Friday.
Falkirk Council said there is no evidence to suggest Ms McMahon caught the deadly virus at the school.
The council spokesperson added: “Sadly, this shows that Covid-19 is still active across our communities and its devastating effects can impact on anyone.”
