A man was taken to hospital following a serious assault in Leith on Monday afternoon.
Police were called to Newkirkgate, Edinburgh, at around 4.15pm on Monday following reports of an assault.
Emergency services attended and a 41-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
Police confirmed that a 17-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the incident, but he has since been released pending further investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a 41-year-old man having been seriously assaulted at Newkirkgate in Edinburgh around 4.15pm on Monday, 21 February, 2022.
“The 41-year-old was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
“A 17-year-old male was arrested in connection with the assault and released pending further enquiries. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact 101, quoting incident 2241 of 21 February.”
