A teenage boy has died in a crash involving two cars in Fife.

Police closed the B914 near Kelty, close to its junction with the A823, after a crash involving a yellow Volkswagen Golf and a blue Toyota Aygo at around 2.25am on Sunday.

A 17-year-old male, the driver of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries were carried out to trace the occupants of the Volkswagen who were not at the scene when police arrived.

An 18-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: “Our thoughts are with the 17-year-old male who has died.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact police.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist.”
