A static caravan which has been parked on a cul-de-sac in Perth without permission will not be removed by the council due to the cost.
The caravan has been parked on a driveway for over two years.
In November 2024, the council said it would explore alternative options for dealing with the planning breach.
However, the local authority has now said – due to the cost of removing it – it is not planning to take any action.
Letham residents were dumbfounded when a large static caravan was tightly manoeuvred onto a neighbour’s driveway in February 2023.
Several reported the planning breach to the local authority who then served an enforcement notice in October 2023.
The notice required residential use of the caravan to stop and for it to be removed from the Perth driveway by December 7, 2023.
In April 2024, the caravan remained in place, and the council decided to close the case.
However, when the Local Democracy Reporting Service approached the council about the planning breach in November 2024, the local authority pledged to explore “alternative options” to deal with the breach.
But the council has now said – due to the financial expense – it has no plans to remove the caravan.
A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson said: “Due to its location and challenges with access, the costs of safely removing the caravan mean no further enforcement action is planned.
“The enforcement notice that was issued remains in place, therefore the matter could be revisited, should circumstances change.”
