Tributes have been paid to a “vivacious” Scottish businessman after he was found murdered in Kenya.
Campbell Scott, a senior director for an American data analytics company FICO, arrived in Nairobi on February 16.
The 58-year-old, from Dunfermline, Fife, left the JW Marriott Hotel in the affluent district of Westlands later that day and did not return.
His remains were discovered in Makongo Forest, around 66 miles outside of Nairobi, bound by rope with severe burns to his face.
Detectives believe the burns may have been caused intentionally to obscure Mr Scott’s identity.
The remains were taken to Makueni Referral Hospital for further examination, where they were positively identified as the businessman.
A taxi driver and waiter have been arrested in connection with the death while a post-mortem is expected to be carried out on Wednesday.
Mr Scott studied at Woodmill High School in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy Technical College before working for companies including the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Toni Harridge worked with Mr Scott at Experian and they remained friends.
He described Mr Scott as a man with a “big heart”.
Mr Harridge told STV news: “Campbell was larger than life. He was vivacious with a dry sense of humour, that endeared everyone to him.
“He had such a big heart and always thought of others. He was steadfast in his willingness to help, support and be your biggest cheerleader.
“Campbell is going to be very missed.”
Mr Scott joined the analytics company FICO in 2014 and was based in London.
The company said it was “devastated” by the news of his death.
A company spokesperson said: “FICO can confirm that Nairobi police have identified the body of Campbell Scott, a FICO employee. Campbell went missing last Sunday while on a business trip to Nairobi.
“We are not sharing further details, as the investigation is in the hands of the police.
“We are devastated by this tragic news. Campbell was a leader in our international Scores business. He joined FICO in 2014 and was instrumental in introducing Scores to new markets and growing our business with existing partnerships. We mourn his passing and will miss his humour and kindness.
“Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends.”
The UK Foreign Office confirmed it was aware of Mr Scott’s death.
A spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.”
