The mum of a toddler who died suddenly while playing in the garden with her family has paid tribute to her “truly amazing” daughter.
Grace Agnes Kenyon was playing in the garden in the sunshine with her older sister last Saturday afternoon when she suddenly died, days before her 2nd birthday.
The toddler, from Winchburgh, started gagging before losing consciousness. Her family initially thought it might have been a gag reflex that would pass.
Grace had experienced difficulties with swallowing since birth and lived with a feeding tube.
SuppliedMum Carly and dad, Nick, immediately attempted to clear her mouth when she began to struggle for breath and efforts were made to resuscitate her.
Grace sadly died before ambulance crews arrived at the home.
The toddler had been waiting for a formal diagnosis after medics believed she may have had a rare condition in her throat called Glossopharyngeal Palsy.
The cause of Grace’s death has not yet been determined, with a post-mortem examination scheduled for Wednesday. Her funeral is due to take place on May 15.
SuppliedMum Carly told STV News: “She was the most selfless wee girl who deserved so much more.
“We want her story to be shared because she was so, so special. She was truly amazing and absolutely no one like her.”
A has been set up for Grace by loved ones and has already raised more than £3,000.
A tribute on the GoFundMe read: “Our beautiful baby Grace. There will never be enough words to explain how truly special you were.
“The light you brought into our lives every single day, you lit up every room you entered and constantly had everyone stop, no matter where you were, just to tell you how beautiful you were.
“You were the kindest, happiest, most loving and most of all, the strongest and bravest little girl I’ve ever known.
“You didn’t deserve the life you were given, and I would fight it all again to have one more day with you, one more cuddle and one more cheeky smile.
“I don’t think you will understand just how many people’s lives you affected when you walked in, and now since you’ve left.
“You deserved so much more from this cruel world, and we will all, never ever have a day where we don’t talk about you to keep you with us.”
