Police officers have charged two further men in connection with an attempted murder in Edinburgh.

A 38-year-old man was allegedly attacked by a gang of four men in the Calder Gardens area of the city on April 2.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Two men, aged 32 and 28, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

This comes a week after two other men, Lee Lacey, of Edinburgh, and Ciaran Brennan, of Dublin, appeared in court charged with attempted murder and possession of weapons.

Both men made no plea.

Lacey was committed for further examination and granted bail, while Brennan was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Brennan will next appear in court within eight days, while Lacey’s next appearance is yet to be determined.
