Two men appear in court after city 'gang war' raids

Two men have appeared in court after being arrested in raids carried out in connection with ongoing gang violence in Edinburgh.

Four people were arrested and five homes were raided on Wednesday by local police supported by organised crime, counter terrorism, and firearms officers.

A number of items relevant to the investigation – including a stolen Range Rover – were seized at four homes, Police Scotland said.

Following the raids, a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with threatening and abusive behaviour following an incident on March 20, while a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged for reset.

A 34-year-old woman was also arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle, but was released pending further enquiries.

A 16-year-old was arrested for reset of a stolen vehicle, various road traffic offences, and being in possession of an offensive weapon for incidents which occurred on Friday, March 7.

He has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Thursday, Nicky Robertson, 38, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with reset of a stolen vehicle.

He made no plea and was granted bail.

Marcus Laidley-Sobers, 28, also appeared charged with threatening and abusive behaviour. He made no plea and was granted bail.
