Two men have appeared in court over a disturbance at an Islamic centre car park in Fife.
Police were notified of an incident involving two men at Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre on St Mary’s Road around 2.50pm on Friday.
The two men, both aged 46, were later traced and taken to hospital for assessment. They were later arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences.
Both appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday.
Michael Williamson from St Andrews was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour, carrying an offensive weapon and resisting an officer.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody. He will appear again in court within eight days.
Craig Robertson from Glenrothes was charged with careless driving, driving under the influence, driving without a licence, threatening and abusive behaviour, and carrying an offensive weapon.
He also made no plea and was remanded in custody. He’ll also appear in court again within the next eight days.
Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre thanked police for their “prompt and professional” actions following the incident.
