Two men have been charged following a disturbance at an Islamic centre car park in Fife.

Police were notified of an incident involving two men at Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre on St Mary’s Road around 2.50pm on Friday.

The two men, both aged 46, were later traced and taken to hospital for assessment. They were later arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences.

The pair are both due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday.

It is understood that the incident was not a hate crime or a targeted attack.

Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre later thanked police for their “prompt and professional” actions.

In a post on social media, Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre said: “We continue to cooperate fully with the authorities and await further updates regarding this serious matter.

“We remain steadfast in our conviction that this incident does not reflect the values of the people of Kirkcaldy.

“During this festive period, we stand united in prayer, resilience, and our shared commitment to peace, compassion, and mutual respect for all.”
