Vanta Claus is coming to town: Men's club volunteers spread festive cheer

Father Christmas has been using a van - and sometimes a JCB tractor - to bring joy to youngsters in Falkirk for more than 50 years.

For the people of Falkirk, Santa Claus has come to town early – but not travelling as you might imagine.

For more than 50 years, volunteers have towed Father Christmas around the town in the run up to the big day using a van or sometimes even a JCB tractor.

It’s all organised by the Falkirk Round Table – the area’s largest male-only voluntary club.

Ross Wilson has been volunteering in the run up to Christmas for 23 years.

He told STV News: “I just absolutely love seeing all the kids faces.

“People save up all year and run out and give us money.

“When we were all young everyone can remember it, and I want to spread the same joy.”

This year, money is being raised for Strathcarron Hospice, Falkirk’s Mental Health Association and Andy’s Man Club.
