Rare close-up footage of dolphins playing and hunting has been captured along the Forth coast.
Jonathan Head, 53, and his partner were walking their dogs between Muirfield and Gullane when they spotted a pod of dolphins heading toward North Berwick on Saturday.
Moments later, the dolphins came right up to the shore – with one even flipping a fish out of the water.
“As they were closer, we decided to head off the coastal path onto a small beach area and I quickly grabbed my phone out of my pocket to start videoing them,” Jonathan said.
“To our surprise there was a sudden frenzy of activity right close in, which must have only been a few feet deep. One of the dolphins suddenly flipped this fish out of the water right in front of us.”
“It was spectacular to see and watch,” he added. “My partner and I just looked at each other smiling in amazement.”
