A schoolgirl was left with a severe concussion after a woman stamped on and kicked her head at a park in West Lothian.
The girl was playing with friends in Addiewell on April 13 when a woman started shouting at the group.
In CCTV footage seen by STV News, which shows the dispute, the 13-year-old can be seen walking away; however, as she turns, the woman grabs her hair and pulls her to the ground.
The woman then appears to continue to stamp and kick the girl’s head numerous times while she is on the ground.
Two men interject and pull the woman off the girl as she tries to continue the attack. The 13-year-old’s mum was alerted to the assault by a friend who phoned her.
She told STV News: “I was totally flabbergasted when I heard.
“I got to my daughter within minutes, the police had been called before I arrived.
“We waited for around an hour, my daughter was getting really white, sick and dizzy, so I took her to the hospital.”
The schoolgirl was left with a severe concussion and suffered headaches for three weeks following the attack.
Police took statements from the 13-year-old the day after the assault at the park. Her mum believes the incident has taken a significant mental toll on her daughter.
The schoolgirl is no longer travelling by bus to her friends’ houses as normal and is refusing to go outside.
The West Lothian mum added: “For the first week after the attack, she slept in my room.
“She has not done that since she was about five. She jumps at any loud noises, if anyone comes up behind her she gets scared.
“She has taken time out of classes at school. I feel helpless and frustrated.
“The woman who did this is still walking about as if nothing has happened.”
More than a month following the incident, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.
Police Scotland has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are investigating a report of an assault in the Addiewell area on Monday, April 13, 2026. Enquiries are ongoing.”
