Police are appealing for information after a 94-year-old woman was robbed of her handbag by two teenagers in Falkirk.

The incident occurred around 12.55pm on Monday, on Hope Street, at the junction with Meeks Road.

The elderly woman was pushed to the ground and her handbag stolen but did not require medical treatment.

Two teenage males were seen running from the scene towards Dollar Park.

One is described as white, slim, wearing black Nike trousers, a black and grey Nike jacket, black and grey Nike 95 trainers, black gloves, a black face covering, and a black crossbody bag.

The second male, also white and slim, wore a black Montirex jacket, black trousers, black Nike 95 trainers, black gloves, a black crossbody bag, and had his face covered.

Detective Sergeant Chris Scott said: “This is a despicable attack on an elderly woman. Thankfully she was not seriously hurt, but she has been left badly shaken.

“It’s vital that we trace the males responsible. Anyone with information, including private CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage from Hope Street to Dollar Park, should come forward. Parents or carers of youths in the area who recognise the descriptions are also urged to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1267 of 9 February, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
