Woman in hospital after crash and car fire on motorway

A woman is in hospital after a car crashed and burst into flames on a motorway.

Emergency services were called to Junction 1 of the M9 at Newbridge on Saturday after reports of a car fire.

A woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Enquiries remain ongoing at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Saturday, 17 January, 2026, we attended a car fire and a subsequent crash on the M9, J1 at Newbridge.

“A woman was taken to hospital following the crash and enquiries are ongoing.”
