Alan Carr reassures fans after collapsing during Regional Trinket performance at Glasgow King's Theatre

Alan Carr has reassured fans that he is “fine” after collapsing during a performance in Glasgow with shooting pains in his leg.

The 46-year-old comedian was on stage at the King’s Theatre on Sunday performing his Regional Trinket tour when he suffered “the worst cramp ever” before finishing the show on crutches.

He took to social media to explain to fans: “I’ve been performing up in Glasgow and there’s a bit in my routine where I pretend to be Jason Statham.

“I high-kicked then I got the worst cramp ever.

“Oh my God! It was shooting pains and I was rolling around on the floor, and people thought it was part of the act.”

He made the explanation on his Instagram account after he had posted a photo on his story of his leg while icing it with frozen peas.

Carr added: “My lovely tour manager poked this crutch through the curtains. I had to finish the show.”

He said that he has since taken ibuprofen for pain relief and believes he has torn a muscle.

Addressing the image he had posted, he added: “I put a very dramatic picture of me with some peas, but I’m fine. I just felt eggy and felt silly rolling around on the floor.

“I’ve never felt pain like it. I will solider on like I always do.”

Last month, speaking exclusively with STV for What’s On Scotland, the comedian opened up about the personal challenges he explores in material for his ongoing Regional Trinket Tour.

Speaking about the tour material, he said: “I wrote it before Covid. We had a week to go and it was all written and done. It was about me getting married and Adele getting ordained especially to marry me and Paul.”

He married his partner of ten years, Paul Drayton, in 2018 – before the pair split up in January 2022.

“During Covid, the relationship fell apart, and I was divorced when we came out the other end. So it’s probably my most personal tour, but it sort of works and it’s quite raw and I go to places that I don’t normally talk about. It’s like therapy really.”
