BBC Flog it! expert Michael Baggott dies from heart attack

Flog It! and Antiques Roadshow expert Michael Baggott has died following a heart attack, the BBC has confirmed.

The antiques dealer passed away in hospital on Tuesday after suffering a stroke in October 2024.

“Heartbroken to share that Michael died yesterday in hospital of a heart attack following a stroke in October,” a statement read on his social media.

“He was a dearly loved son, brother, nephew and uncle who will be deeply and profoundly missed. There will be a memorial service in the coming weeks, the details of which will be shared here.”

Rob Unsworth, Head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak Commissioning, described Baggott as one of the most memorable characters on Flog It!

“We were deeply saddened to hear this news. Michael was one of Flog It’s most memorable characters, expert in all manner of collectables, but in particular, with unrivalled knowledge and enthusiasm for antique spoons and silver,” he said in a statement.

“Though the series hasn’t been in production for several years, we hope Michael’s family can take comfort from how much viewers have continued to enjoy his appearances on this ever-popular show.”

In 2004, Baggott joined Flog It! as an antiques expert specialising in silver and smallwork and quickly became one of the show’s most recognisable faces.

The programme was cancelled in 2018 after 17 years, having aired more than 1,000 episodes.
