Beyoncé fans told to plan ahead by ScotRail as station works clash with Murrayfield concert in Edinburgh

Beyoncé fans have been warned to plan ahead to ensure they arrive at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium in time for the concert this weekend.

It comes as ongoing work is likely to cause significant delays at Haymarket station.

Train operator ScotRail say they have added more seats and additional trains before and after the concert to support fans travelling to the stadium for the Renaissance tour on Saturday.

The routes will operate throughout the day in and out of Edinburgh Waverley.

However, ongoing development works near Haymarket train station mean there is limited access and ScotRail say the normal queuing system will not operate when the concert ends.

Customers have been advised not to use Haymarket to and from the concert and instead use Edinburgh Waverley, Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Park or consider alternative routes and transport options.

Music lovers have been advised to organise plenty of time for their journey and plan their service home in advance.

Fans battled to get tickets for the concert after the 25-time Grammy Award-winning star announced she would be coming to Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium as part of her Renaissance world tour.

The 43-date world tour began on May 10 in Sweden. It is the star’s first solo tour in seven years.

Approximately 60,000 fans are due to head to Murrayfield on Saturday with the concert due to start at 6.30pm and gates opening at 4.30pm.

Edinburgh Trams will also be operating a frequent service between the entrance of the stadium and Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, and St Andrew Square tram stop – a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley.

Edinburgh City Centre is also accessible from BT Murrayfield by a number of Lothian Bus services (1, 3, 12, 22, 25, 26, 30, 31 or 33).

Those traveling by rail have been advised to buy return tickets through the mTicket system on the ScotRail app.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail head of customer operations, said: “We’re doing what we can to help music fans travel to see Beyonce perform at BT Murrayfield on Saturday and I am delighted we have been able to add more seats and some extra trains.

“The gates at the stadium open from 4.30pm, so I’d encourage customers to travel to the stadium early if they can and allow plenty time for their journey as services will be busy.

“After the concert, customers should make their way to Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, or Edinburgh Waverley to catch their train home as there will be limited access to Haymarket station due to the redevelopment work on an adjacent building, which is not owned or operated by ScotRail.”
