Glasgow International Comedy Festival has announced a special tribute show for the late comedian Janey Godley will feature in this year’s line-up.

Elaine C Smith, Susie McCabe, Scott Agnew, Rosco McClelland and Tom Urie are set to appear in An Afternoon For Janey, which will take place at the King’s Theatre on Sunday March 23.

The show will also feature a special screening of the film Janey and raise funds to be split between two Glasgow charities, Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

The festival opens in five weeks’ time with headline performances from McCabe, Larry Dean, Fern Brady and Jenny Eclair.

Godley, who died of cancer in November, was the first ever recipient of the festival’s Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award in 2023 and she presented last year’s award to McCabe.

The winner of the 2025 award will be announced during the festival’s comedy gala, which takes place on Sunday March 30.

Festival director Krista MacDonald said: “It’s a great privilege to be able to stage this event in memory of Janey for the benefit of two such vital Glasgow charities.

“With the help of Hopscotch Films and some of our best talent, we’ll come together and celebrate Janey’s life and work, share some memories, laughs and, no doubt, tears, and – as Janey always did – contribute everything we can to those in need of help.”
