Actor Brendan Fraser has revealed that “Gotham never looked better cast as Glasgow” when discussing cancelled film Batgirl on a podcast.
The movie, which was filmed entirely in Glasgow, was reportedly shelved following poor test screening results in August 2022.
The DC film was set to star Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser, JK Simmons and Leslie Grace and reportedly cost an estimated £57.6m.
Fraser, who was set to play villain Firefly, revealed on the Howard Stern podcast that “Gotham never looked better cast as decaying Glasgow”.
Speaking on the podcast, The Mummy actor revealed: “It was great.
“Gotham never looked better cast as Glasgow, Scotland.
“Decaying, and just gorgeous and it looks like, it’s Gotham City you know.
“It’s perfectly cast, you believe it no matter where you look in the town if you light it the right way.”
Fraser, who is nominated for best actor at the 2023 Oscars for The Whale, also revealed that the movie wasn’t screened “in the best light”.
He added: “I have friends and co workers and associates who’ve seen it they all say really good things about it but the thing about it was it was screened in a garden variety test screening, it was a directors cut, first cut.
“It wasn’t finished.
“The sad thing is is that I don’t know it was judged on the merit, it wasn’t shown in the best light that it could have been.”
