An iconic Inverclyde attraction has featured on the cover of the new Blur album.
Gourock’s outdoor swimming pool graces the cover of the band’s ninth album, announced on Friday.
The lido is the oldest heated swimming pool in Scotland.
The picture used by Blur was captured in 2004 by British photographer Martin Parr and shows a lone man, Ian Galt, swimming in the popular pool.
Mr Galt was unaware the photo being taken, and found out about it years later, when a friend saw it in an exhibition in Glasgow.
The album, The Ballad of Darren, marks the band’s first release of new music in eight years and follows the single The Narcissist
In response to the artwork, Inverclyde Council tweeted: “Great album cover @blurofficial give our partners @InverclydeL a shout if you fancy a swim – or gig – at the famous Gourock Pool #DiscoverInverclyde.”
The Ballad of Darren is set to be released on July 21 and fans are now hoping for future tour dates to be announced.
