Lewis Capaldi has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome.
The 25-year-old singer went public with his diagnosis on Tuesday because he didn’t want fans thinking he was ‘taking cocaine or something’.
The condition causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements known as tics.
Capaldi opened up about the diagnosis to his fans during an Instagram live, and revealed he is learning to live with twitches and the condition itself.
The singer, who is releasing a new single on Friday, revealed to The Sun: “I wanted to speak about it because I didn’t want people to think I was taking cocaine or something.
“My shoulder twitches when I am excited, happy, nervous, or stressed.
“I got Botox in my shoulder to stop it moving but I’m learning new ways to cope all the time.
“I thought I had some horrible degenerative disease, so I’ll take Tourette’s.
“It is something I am living with. It’s not as bad as it looks.”
