Lewis Capaldi tickets already on resale sites for £460 as extra dates announced

Capaldi has announced two more shows in Glasgow and Aberdeen due to 'phenomenal demand' for his comeback tour.

Tickets for Lewis Capaldi’s long-awaited comeback tour are already on resale sites for hundreds of pounds more than face value after going on general sale at 9am on Thursday.

Within minutes, tickets were already listed on sites such as Viagogo shortly after going on sale, with some asking prices as high as £468, and the majority of others going for over £230.

It comes as the singer announced two extra dates at Glasgow and Aberdeen due to “phenomenal demand” for his UK arena tour.

The 28-year-old will now be playing four nights in Scotland as part of the tour, first heading to the P&J Live in Aberdeen on September 10 and 11 before travelling to the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on September 13 and 14.

He previously said that the number of fans that signed up for the tour’s pre-sale was four times as many as he’s ever seen.

Capaldi took to social media to address the demand, saying that playing at stadiums would be the “most terrifying thing ever” at this stage of his comeback.

He said: “Seen a couple of people mention bigger venues, honestly after taking the break it’s impossible to know how many of ya might want to come to not come to shows.

“Also looking at even bigger venues (stadiums probably the only option which is mental haha) would be the most terrifying thing ever for me, coming back straight into venues four/five times the size of an area would definitely not be the best thing for me to try.

“Hope you all understand, I really do want to see as many of you as I possibly can and your support means the world.”

Capaldi’s comeback comes after he took a hiatus to focus on his health after he struggled with Tourette’s Syndrome during his last performance at Glastonbury in 2023.

He released a new single, titled Survive, after returning to the Pyramid stage at the music festival as a surprise act.

Police have warned the public to be “vigilant” of fraudulent ticket sales online after there were 422 reported incidents of frauds across Scotland in 2024 involving the online sale of tickets for major events.

Detective Inspector Alasdair Penny, Cybercrime Harm Prevention Unit, said: “We are aware of a number of highly anticipated events this summer including TRNSMT festival in July and the Oasis reunion tour in August.

“We want to make sure the public is aware of how to spot potential fraudulent sales.

“Be vigilant. If a price or offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.

“Before purchasing, carefully review the ticket details for accurate event information, including the date, time, and venue. Pay attention to the seating section or assigned seats, which can indicate fraudulent tickets.

“Buy from legitimate sources, check bank details provided and use secure payment methods. Credit cards and reputable online payment platforms offer additional protection against fraudulent transactions. Avoid paying with cash, wire transfers, or unsecured payment methods.

“Please report any fraudulent activity to police. We will fully investigate, and we work alongside partners to raise awareness and tackle those involved in such offences.”

A Ticketmaster spokesperson said: “In 2018, we voluntarily capped the resale price on Ticketmaster at the original price paid.

“We’re strong supporters of the Government’s plans to introduce an industry-wide resale price cap and stronger enforcement of UK laws to help stop touts from taking advantage of fans. We believe this cap will reduce the incentive for touts and the behaviour you have seen today.”
