Scottish wrestler Drew McIntyre has become the first ever Brit to win the WWE title after a win over Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36.
The Ayrshire grappler, who also won the Royal Rumble at the start of the year, beat former UFC star Lesnar after hitting him with his signature ‘Claymore Kick’.
The win caps an unexpected return to the top for the 34-year-old who was released by WWE in 2014.
But after a short spell with Scottish wrestling company ICW he earned a move back to the states in 2017 before building his way up the ladder and earning a title-shot with his rumble win.
He now follows in the footsteps of legendary champions including Hulk Hogan, Bret ‘Hitman’ Heart and The Undertaker.
The only disappointment for McIntyre, also known as the Scottish Psycho, is that his win came in front of an empty stadium as the event was held with no fans for the first time in history due to the coronavirus outbreak.
