STV RadioScottish singer and broadcaster Michelle McManus has shared details of a recent operation that saw her taking pictures of her leg with nine cannulas.
The Pop Idol star, who won the TV talent show and shot to the top of the charts in 2003, appeared on Ewen and Cat at Breakfast on STV Radio to promote her band The Flaming Blackhearts’ new EP, Home.
Discussing her recent operation to remove a varicose vein, McManus said: “I went in for the procedure on Monday morning. I got nine cannulas in my leg. Wait until you see the picture – I’m going to start an OnlyFans account for people of the varicose vein persuasion. Honestly, I’m onto something here.
“This is how old I am, right? My wee boy was like, ‘Mummy, I can play snakes and ladders on your leg.’ I was like, ‘Okay, it’s time to say goodbye to this varicose vein.’
STV Radio“So I went in on Monday and got it done. I hobbled into my work, full of painkillers – it was amazing on Monday. It started to wear off on Tuesday and then by Wednesday I was like, ‘I can’t even get out my bed.’
“They pump [the vein] full of foam and it collapses. I mean, anybody eating their breakfast right now is going to be like, ‘Why? Why, God, why?’
“This is not what I’m on to talk about this morning. I’ve went down a very dark hole here.”
