Makers of The Crown have announced the launch date for the show’s highly-anticipated fifth series.
Streaming giant Netflix confirmed the drama would return on November 9 during a global fan event at the weekend.
The latest run of the smash-hit show, which centres around the history of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family through the 20th century, will see Dominic West star as Charles and Elizabeth Debicki as Diana.
West, 52, takes over the role of Charles from Josh O’Connor, while The Night Manager actor Debicki replaces Emma Corrin.
Imelda Staunton will take over the role of the Queen from Olivia Colman, while Jonathan Pryce replaces Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh and Lesley Manville will be Princess Margaret.
The Crown was due to end after the fifth series, but the show’s creator and writer Peter Morgan has said it will be extended to include a sixth.
Filming on the latest season of The Crown was halted following the death of the Queen and, as a mark of respect, filming was also suspended on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
The show went on to re-enter the global top ten shows on Netflix in the wake of the Queen’s death, with viewers primarily revisiting the coronation of the Queen, played by Claire Foy, in series one.
