Olly Murs is set to return to Scotland this week as he headlines EdgeFest in the Scottish Borders.
The Troublemaker singer, who will take to the stage on Saturday night at the music festival in Jedburgh, told STV News he’s excited to visit a part of Scotland he has never been to before.
He said: “It’s nice for me to go to the EdgeFest. I’ve never done it before, so for me it’s a whole new experience.
“I’m going to go somewhere I haven’t been before, to the Scottish Borders, and give the fans around that area of Scotland, who always have to travel to see music shows, a chance to have the best weekend of entertainment, so really, really looking forward to it.”
It will be Olly’s first time back in Scotland since he was forced to pull out of his gig at Glasgow’s Hydro back in May after just five songs, due to ill health.
He recently told Heart Scotland’s breakfast show: “I was at the show, and that moment for me was one of the toughest moments of my career.
“If I had continued singing, one, I would have damaged my voice, two, I would have felt awful for the fans, that they wouldn’t have seen the true Olly Murs.”
Now, those lucky enough to have tickets can enjoy Olly this weekend, alongside acts including Sister Sledge, Skippinish, Example and Travis.
On Scots favourites Travis, Olly added: “When I was growing up, they were a band that I really loved so it will be really cool to see them perform again. Let’s just hope it doesn’t rain!”
Looking at the forecast, Olly had better keep everything crossed but regardless it looks set to be a fun weekend of music at EdgeFest.
