Scottish musicians LF System have recorded the UK’s third-biggest sound of the summer, behind Kate Bush and Harry Styles.
The DJ duo’s Afraid to Feel gained summer-soundtrack status after securing the top spot on UK charts for eight consecutive weeks – making it the longest-running Number 1 dance record of the decade so far.
Coming in behind Kate Bush’s Running up the Hill in pole position and Harry Styles’ As it Was in second, the DJ duo’s tune achieved more than 45m streams.
West Lothian boys Conor Larkman and Sean Finnigan only gave up their day jobs as a roofer and petrol station worker two months ago to pursue music full-time.
Afraid to Feel is based on the song I Can’t Stop (Turning You On) from 1970s soul band Silk’s album Midnight Dancer, with vocals by Louise Clare Marshall both sped-up and slowed down from the original release.
“It’s mental, absolutely mental,” Conor told STV News, when asked about beating Beyoncé on the charts.
“We’re up there with Drake, Beyoncé… and we’re just two guys from West Lothian,” added Sean.
