Susan Boyle has said she was “very flattered” to be listed among Hollywood actor Timothee Chalamet’s top five Britons.
Speaking on the BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Wednesday, the 29-year-old actor said the Scottish singer is one of his all-time greats, naming her alongside David and Victoria Beckham.
On the promotional trail for his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, the actor has been presenting jackets bearing the film’s title to people he deems as being a great.
Asked which British figures he believed would be worthy of receiving a jacket, the actor praised the 64-year-old former Britain’s Got Talent star.
Boyle auditioned for the STV talent show in 2009 and stunned the audience with her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream, from the musical Les Misérables.

Referring to her audition, Chalamet said: “She dreamt big – she dreamt bigger than all of us.
“Who wasn’t moved by that?”
Responding to the unprompted shout-out, Susan said it had been “incredibly touching to read”.
Posting on social media, she said: “I’m very flattered. Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me.
“We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big! I wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream. Thank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly.”
Chalamet was in the UK promoting his upcoming film, describing the sports drama as “sort of like a fever dream”.
The film follows Marty Mauser, played by Chalamet, as he chases his dream of becoming a table tennis champion.
