Taylor Swift Google vault puzzle: Singer hints at unheard tracks ahead of 1989 rerelease

Taylor Swift has sent the internet into a frenzy with new clues about her upcoming rerelease of her breakthrough album 1989.

It marks the fourth in her endeavour to regain ownership over her first six albums.

With each “Taylor’s Version”, the singer has included “vault tracks” that were previously unreleased and didn’t make the cut in the original.

Swift released a teaser video hinting that the “vault puzzles” were available alongside the caption: “You can tell me when the search is over… if the high was worth the pain” – referencing one of her biggest hits Blank Space.

Fans knew “all too well” what the caption meant and quickly flocked to Google to find that when searching “Taylor Swift” a blue vault animation appeared.

Once you click on the vault, you’re given a set of letters alongside a hint with the answer being something Taylor or 1989 related.

Once you figure out the word or phrase, you submit your answer in the search bar and are taken to another puzzle.

After completing your first puzzle a counter will come up that shows how many have been solved worldwide.

It has a target of 33 million with many believing that once the it is reached the vault tracks for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will be revealed.

At 11am on Wednesday, 23 million puzzles had already been solved. With one of the clues being “Wednesday”, it is expected that this may be the day all is revealed.

The decision to rerecord her first six albums came after the masters of her early works were sold to Scooter Braun for £300m by her former record label Big Machine Records.

The rerecords have catapulted Swift to new levels of success with each going on to outsell the original.

Swift kicked off her rereleases with her second album Fearless which featured her mega hit Love Story.

Taylor’s Version of Fearless has gone on to sell more than three times as many units, and her second rerecord Red sold 3.32 million album units compared to the 390,000 of the original.

Swift released her third rerecord with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on July 7, which went on to have the biggest streaming debut for any country album ever.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) will release on October 27, and is expected to dominate charts like it did the first time round.

The album was the singer’s pop breakthrough and went on to earn the New Romantics singer her second Album of The Year award at the Grammys.
