Mark Sheehan, guitarist for Irish pop band The Script, has died after a brief illness.
In a statement on their social media pages, the band said: “Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness.
“The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.”
The 46-year-old, who formed the band alongside frontman Danny O’Donoghue and drummer Glen Power in 2001, died in hospital.
Last year, Sheehan missed the US leg of the group’s tour.
At the time, The Script’s frontman Danny O’Donoghue said that Sheehan’s leave was due to family commitments.
