Thousands of music fans facing public transport disruption on final day of TRNSMT festival

Festival goers preparing to travel to Glasgow for the final day of TRNSMT will be faced with disruptions to public transport.

The final day of the three-day festival will see acts such as Nina Nesbitt, Sigrid, Wolf Alice and Lewis Capaldi round off a weekend of live music at Glasgow Green.

However, the festival has been marred with travel disruptions for those making their way to the event via public transport.

Amid an ongoing dispute with train drivers union Aslef, there will be very limited services on Scotland’s railways on Sunday.

The national rail operator confirmed there would be no trains leaving Glasgow after 11pm when the festival closes, meaning some fans will miss the end of headliner Lewis Capaldi’s set.

Meanwhile fans from north and south-west Scotland have been warned that replacement bus services will be in operation on Sunday due to Network Rail engineering works between Inverness and Aberdeen and between Dumfries and Kilmarnock.

ScotRail has urged festival goers to travel to the venue early ahead of the gates opening at 12pm at Glasgow Green and to look into alternative travel options.

It comes as revellers faced waits of up to three hours in high temperatures on Saturday to get into the festival due to a bottleneck at the entrance.

Happy Bus are operating coaches from eight locations across Scotland to take revellers to and from the site and will leave Glasgow Green 45 minutes after the gates close.

However those travelling with the coach provider have been advised to avoid the cloakroom at the event in a bid to prevent them missing their transport home.

Those looking to take the subway to the festival can travel from 10am on Sunday and have been advised to alight at Buchanan Street, St Enoch Centre or Bridge Street stations before walking 20 to 30 minutes to the site at Glasgow Green.

However, no extra provisions have been provided by SPT to get revellers home, with the final services scheduled for 5.50pm and 6pm on the inner and outer circles.
