The frontman of Scots band Travis has described punching a man in the face during an attempted “carjacking” outside his music studio.
Fran Healy said a “huge guy” tried to pull him out of his car window in Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The 49-year-old, who has a black belt in karate, said his punches had no effect on the attacker.
“I hooked the guy really hard in the face a few times while he was all in my window,” Healy wrote on Twitter.
“He didn’t flinch. Didn’t even register it.
“As the adrenaline dissipates, my right hand is hurting like I punched a wall.”
The Why Does It Always Rain On Me? singer said the incident happened within the parking facility of his studio in LA where he lives.
“Possible headline tomorrow ‘Fran Theft Auto’?”, he joked.
Last year, Healy made headlines after his hand was mauled by a runaway sausage dog he was attempting to rescue amid chaotic scenes on a road in which three cars had “jackknifed”.
“Cars bomb down our hill and it would have been toast,” the singer said, “So I tried to pick it up and it mauled the s*** out my left hand.”
Healy had to undergo emergency surgery on the hand after the dachshund attack.
The Scots rockers burst onto the mainstream with their third album The Invisible Band more than 20 years ago.
They hit the big time following the success of their album The Man Who in 1999 that saw them win three Brit Awards for hits such as Turn, Writing To Reach You and Driftwood.
The group is set to play to a sell-out crowd in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, in August.
