Nearly a thousand viewers have reported issues with Netflix after the new episodes of popular series Stranger Things were released.
Eager fans of the sci-fi series were waiting on the highly anticipated final two episodes of season four to drop on the streaming platform on Friday.
However, hundreds of viewers were instead met with a network error message, forcing them to log off and try again.
According to DownDetector, over 700 technical issues were reported after the streaming service crashed at around 8am in the UK – with problems will ongoing.
Taking to Twitter to express frustrations, fans revealed their disappointment at the entertainment platform.
One fan said: “You would think Netflix would be prepared for the large amount of traffic coming in for the show release. How did it manage to crash within seconds?”
While another added: “I did not just count down the seconds like it’s New Years for Netflix to crash”, and a third wrote: “Stranger Things volume two is so massive that it’s managed to crash Netflix. Love that for us.”
Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s most-watched titles, with season three amassing 582 million view hours ranking as the second most popular English-language series in the Netflix top ten.
Since its release in 2016, the show has garnered over 65 award wins and 175 award nominations, including those from the Emmys, Golden Globes, Grammys, BAFTA and many others.
The second part of the fourth seasosn, Volume Two, premiered on Friday, July 1.
