iStockAn ambulance overturned on its way to a 999 call due to strong winds in the Outer Hebrides.
The crash occurred at around 11am on Tuesday, on the B892 near to Benbecula Airport.
Three ambulances were on route to a call out in Ahmor, North Uist, when one overturned on the road due to wind.
Emergency services attended and two SAS members were assisted out of the vehicle while the road closed for around two hours.
No-one was injured as a result of the crash and the ambulance was not carrying a patient.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 11am to attend an incident in Ahmor, North Uist.
“Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, however, en route to the incident one ambulance overturned due to strong wind.
“To enable the quickest possible response, the local GP and coastguard were contacted and also dispatched to the scene.”
A police spokesperson add: “Around 11.10 am on Tuesday 8 March 2022, police received a report of an ambulance overturned on the B892 near to Benbecula Airport.
“Emergency services attended and two SAS members were assisted out of the vehicle.
“The road was closed for approximately two hours.”
