Temperatures will plummet as low as -15C in parts of Scotland as an Arctic blast of cold weather will bring widespread snow and ice.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice that could disrupt travel have been issued for the north of Scotland from midnight on Saturday night through Sunday and Monday.
Frequent snow showers are expected to bring a risk of icy patches with strong winds also coming in through the northeast resulting in drifting snow.
Parts of the north could see up to 30cm of snow accumulate, with some low-lying areas potentially seeing 10cm in a matter of hours.
STV meterologist Sean Batty said there is a chance of more snowfall next week with cold air firmly in place across the country including central and southern Scotland.
Where will it be coldest?
Lows of -15C – Aviemore, Grantown, Loch Glascarnoch, Tomintoul, Loch Cluanie and Laggan
Lows of -10C – Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Borders, Renfrewshire and Stirlingshire
Lows of -5C – Glasgow and Edinburgh
The areas affected include Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray while Eilean Siar and Highland are also subject to the warning.
The Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands will also be subject to snow and ice.
