A BB pellet was left “embedded” in a cat’s head after she was shot in the Highlands, her owner has said.
Police are investigating the incident that took place in the Moffat Square area of Scourie, in the north west of Sutherland, at sometime between Thursday, February 8, and Monday, February 12.
Owner Lynzi Montgomery told STV News a vet confirmed her ten year old cat Sasha had been shot in the head by a BB gun.
A pellet from the weapon “embedded” in Sasha’s head and caused her to develop a “horrific infection”, Ms Montgomery said.
“I just wanted to let the cat owners in the area know that someone has shot my cat in the head with a BB gun,” she said.
“This has been confirmed by the vet this afternoon.
“This has happened at some point within the past two weeks, she now has a horrific infection as it has been embedded in her head.
“If anyone knows of or hears of anything can you please let me know? It has been reported.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Ullapool or Rhiconich via 101 quoting incident number 2657 of February 19, 2024.
