The family of a man missing in the Highlands have been informed after a body was discovered on the shoreline in Invergordon.

Shaun Banner was last seen near Invergordon train station just after midnight on Saturday, April 23, but failed to make contact with “desperate” family members for more than a month.

The 34-year-old was described as “not being himself lately” in an emotional social media appeal.

Officers from Police Scotland attended reports of a body being found at Shore Road West in the town shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, June 14.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but a spokesperson said Banner’s family had been made aware.

The death is being treated as unexplained, but officers said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

A report is being prepared to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
