A body has been found in the search for a Western Isles music teacher who disappeared months after being charged with sexual offences.

Andrew Yearley was last seen in the Keose area of Lochs on Wednesday morning.

Police confirmed a body had been found in the water in the same area shortly before 1pm on Thursday.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of the 53-year-old have been informed.

Yearley was arrested and charged in connection with possession of indecent images at an address in Lewis in January.

He appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court the same month, where he made no plea and was granted bail.

The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
