The body of a missing kayaker has been recovered off the coast of Lewis.
Coastguard crews including the rescue helicopter were scrambled shortly before 9pm on Sunday amid reports of the man off the west coast of the island near the Carloway Pier.
A multi-agency search, also including Police Scotland and RNLI lifeboat teams, was launched, however the 59-year-old’s body was later brought ashore.
A force spokesperson said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, while his next of kin have been informed.
Officers will also submit a report to the procurator fiscal.
The spokesperson added: “Around 9.40pm on Sunday, July 10, police were called by Maritime and Coastguard Agency to reports of concern for a man at Carloway Pier on the Isle of Lewis.
“Emergency services attended and found a 59-year-old man had died.
“His next of kin have been informed. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
