A care worker has been struck off after being sentenced for possessing indecent images of children.
Jack Hutchinson was convicted of taking indecent photographs of children between March 6, 2021 and June 8, 2025.
He was working as a social care worker in Thurso when he possessed the images.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) opened an investigation following Hutchinson’s conviction in March this year.
Following the investigation, the watchdog made the decision to remove him from the register, finding that his fitness to practice is impaired.
A report by the watchdog outlined: “A warning would not be appropriate as it would not adequately address the impairment of your fitness to practise. The behaviour is extremely serious.”
It added that just giving a warning would give no protection to people who use services or the public. pattern of behaviour.
“The SSSC considers a Removal Order is the most appropriate sanction as it is both necessary and justified in the public interest and to maintain the continuing trust and confidence in the social service profession and the SSSC as the regulator of the profession,” the report concluded.
