A red squirrel climbed on top of a photographer’s camera – as he lay in wait to snap pictures of the curious creature.
Amateur snapper Ryan Weymss, 53, brought two cameras with him to woodland near Inverness, in the Highlands, as he prepared to photograph red squirrels.
Ryan, from Conon Bridge put out a handful of peanuts for the squirrel near the camera and waited for an hour to get the perfect shot.
The dad-of-three captured the photo from around five meters away using another camera.
Construction site manager Ryan said: “It just happened, it jumped up to grab the food.
“This is the first time I’ve captured one on the camera, I’m really pleased with it.
“They do come close if you’re quiet and still but younger ones tend to stay away. Some even run about your feet.
“Sometimes you can be there for hours and not see any squirrels, other times you see them right away.”
