The death of a person found near a railway line in the Highlands is not being treated as suspicious by police.
Emergency services were called to the line near Inverness train station at around 7.20am on Wednesday, February 21 after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks.
British Transport Police confirmed a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The line between Dingwall and Inverness was closed during the response, which caused major disruption to ScotRail services.
Police have now confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Inverness railway station at around 7.20am on Wednesday (February 21) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
