A child care worker has been struck off after being convicted of fraud in Inverness.
Daniel MacLeod was described as having “a significant disregard for the law” after fraudulently claiming over £1,670 through invoices for work he did not carry out.
He was convicted in October last year of fraud while part of the Register for Residential Child Care Workers.
The crimes were committed between November 8 and November 22, 2019.
He was subsequently found on Monday to be unfit to practise by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
The board found that Mr MacLeod demonstrated no “insight or regret” for his actions and no factors were found in his favour against the sanction.
In the notice of the decision, it stated Mr MacLeod had shown he was “prepared to act in a dishonest manner that breaches the trust placed in you to carry out caring duties”.
The decision also concluded that he had “abused the trust” placed in him by a service provider and the SSSC and said: “Your actions are fundamentally incompatible with professional registration”.
The case did not go before a hearing as Mr MacLeod did not respond asking for one when contacted by the SSSC in May this year.
An immediate removal order was imposed as result.
