Fraser Johnstone / QOSFC.comAn unlucky football fan who had his half time cup of tea smashed out of his hand by a wayward shot has been offered free refreshments at a future fixture after a comic picture of the incident went viral.
Club bosses at Elgin City have launched an appeal to track down the unknown man wearing the, presumably ruined, white t-shirt at Saturday’s game against Queen of the South.
The Doonhamers’ club photographer Fraser Johnstone caught the moment on camera while attempting to take a photo of mum Donna, seen “dabbing” in front of the unlucky supporter who felt the full force of the ball.
It is understood he is a fan of Elgin, but things did not improve on the pitch at Borough Briggs as his side signed off their Premier Sports Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat.
The picture has since been shared thousands of times on social media, with some fans branding it a “work of art”.
City, who play their football in League Two, want to make amends by promising a replacement tea and sausage roll at a match over the coming weeks.
Posting on Twitter, club chiefs wrote: “Arguably the best picture ever taken at a football match.
“We would love to know the name of this supporter so he can get some free refreshments at our next match.”
Elgin kick off their league campaign with the visit of East Fife on Saturday, while Queens are at home to Clyde.
