Driver airlifted to hospital and road closed after crash

A motorist has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in the Highlands.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a crash on the B9102 in Elchies near Aberlour on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where a woman received treatment before being transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helicopter.

The road remains closed while an initial investigation is carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.50am on Thursday, October 12, police were called to a report of a one car road crash on the B9102 at Elchies, Aberlour.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the road is closed.

“The female driver is being taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to assist emergency service partners at a crash on the B9102 near Elchies, Aberlour on Thursday, October 12, at 8.46am.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene, where crews extricated one casualty from the vehicle and placed them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews remained on scene making the area safe and left at 10.04am.”
